Welcome to the Blog
Getting there will be the fun part; how I stay will involve a rather unique approach. In each region I visit, I will tow my 1972 Airstream and set up a base camp at a winery with which I do business. Then I’ll explore the region in my truck or on my Vespa, which I’ll bring along weather permitting.
Over time, we’ll be adding videos and perhaps even do live streaming from the Airstream, beaming the feed back to the wine bar at Carpe Vino and around the world. In the future, I’ll be inviting my blog followers to join me on the road for special events and discounts at participating wineries.
Of course, I’ll do posts about the wines I’m drinking, plus I’ll give you the 411 on books I’m taking along (see “Road Reading”).
If you love wine, travel and classic Airstream trailers, you’re my kind of people and I hope you will enjoy and perhaps even share in my little venture on the Vintage Highway.

This blog will follow my monthly trips into wine country across California, Oregon, Washington and, some day, around the country. As the owner of Carpe Vino, a wine shop, wine bar and fine dining restaurant in Auburn, CA, I have direct access to the leading wineries and winemakers in the business. I’ll be traveling the back roads of wine country to find the true gems, small production wines made by truly passionate people. In my nightly blogs on the road, I’ll tell their stories and describe what I’ve seen, learned and tasted.
